Unassigned species in the subfamily Densovirinae

This densovirus species includes a single virus (Acheta domestica mini ambidensovirus, AdMADV), which has an ambisense gene expression strategy and a 5 kb genome with short homotelomeric terminal repeats of 0.2 kb. The major distinction from members of genus Ambidensovirus is the presence of a stop codon in the middle of the NS3 ORF that leads to a discrepant transcription strategy (Pham et al., 2013b).

Acheta domesticus mini ambidensovirus is responsible for significant commercial losses in the cricket rearing industry worldwide, causing systematic infection in house cricket nymphs (Liu et al., 2011).
