Distinguishing features

The sole member of the only species in this genus infects ants and has two major ORFs, with ORF2 (encoding the frameshift domain, FSD, and VP2) being expressed via ribosomal frameshifting.

Invicta: from the type species Solenopsis invicta virus 3.

Formal species demarcation criteria have not yet been established. ORF1-encoded amino acid sequence identity between isolates and strains of a species is above 90%.
