Distinguishing features 

Virus belonging to the single species in this genus was isolated from a fer-de-lance snake (Ahne et al., 1999). Closely related viruses have also been isolated from anaconda snakes. These virus genomes contain an additional transcription unit (U) between the N and P genes.
